Finding beauty within.
I grew up in Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) foster care system and resided in relatives and foster homes before exiting out at age 18, yes still a baby.
I’ve experienced motherhood at an early age, domestic violence, homelessness, blended family issues, parenting struggles, mental health issues and loss.
Despite these challenges, I obtained a Bachelors degree and then a Masters. I secured employment through DFCS and eventually promoted to a Children’s Social Worker (CSW). I’ve worked in emergency response, continuing services, as a dependency investigator and most recently…. well I’ll reveal that later. But i’m still on the “frontline”. Ive been a CSW for the past 7 years and proud of it. I’ve learned so much in this position and it has helped me to grow personally and professionally.
My goal is to share my experiences in hopes to motivate others to find value in themselves and their experiences and most importantly to never give up despite the odds or statistics.
I want to bring hope to the hopeless and encourage and motivate others to keep striving for greatness. Just because your life started out one way doesn’t mean it has to end that way.
